    Ages: 6 months - 3 years
    This class introduces basic skills to parents and children. Parents learn how to safely work with their child in the water, including how to appropriately support and hold their child in the water and how to prepare and encourage their child to participate fully and try the skills. Children receive an introduction to basic skills that lay the foundation for learning to swim. In addition, parents are introduced to several water safety topics. *An adult must be present in the water with each child.

    130001 - Parent/Child Aquatics 2

    Ages: 6 months - 3 years
    Parent and Child Aquatics Level 2 builds on the skills introduced in Level 1. Participants improve on these skills and learn more advanced skills in Level 2. As with Level 1, water safety topics are also included in this level. Both parents/guardians* and children have a familiarity in the water; learning the role of an adult in the learning process of swimming will continue to be a focus. This class is not designed to teach children to become good swimmers or to survive in the water on their own. *An adult must be present in the water with each child.

    131000 - Preschool Aquatics 1

    Ages: 4-5 years
    This class is designed for children who do not have previous experience in a structured class setting or being away from their parents/guardians in the water. Children will work on basic swimming skills to become comfortable in the water. Skills will be learned through play and incidental learning to encourage a fun and enjoyable experience in the water. Preschool 1 introduces basic aquatic skills. In addition, children start developing
    positive attitudes and safe practices around the water in Preschool Aquatics Level 1.

    131001 - Preschool Aquatics 2

    Ages: 4-5 years
    The objectives of Preschool 2 are to further develop basic aquatic skills. Children begin to perform these
    skills at a slightly more advanced level (for example, for longer lengths of time, for longer distances or
    in deeper water). Many skills in Preschool 1 are performed with assistance. Preschool 2 marks the beginning of
    independent aquatic locomotion skills. Children continue to explore using simultaneous and alternating
    arm and leg actions on the front and back to gain greater proficiency in preparation for performing
    strokes.

    131002 - Preschool Aquatics 3

    Ages: 4-5 years
    The objective of Preschool 3 is to increase children’s proficiency in performing previously learned skills.
    This is accomplished by providing additional guided practice and increasing repetitions, distances,
    times or levels of refinement. The skills in Level 3 are performed independently. Children improve their
    coordination and control of combined simultaneous arm and leg actions and alternating arm and leg
    actions. New water safety topics are introduced, and previously acquired water safety knowledge and
    skills are reinforced.

    133000 - Learn to Swim - Level 2

    Ages: 6 years and older
    This class is designed for children who have successfully completed Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills. Learn-to-Swim Level 2 builds on the basic aquatic skills and water safety skills and concepts learned in Level 1. Participants begin to perform skills at a slightly more advanced level and begin gaining rudimentary propulsive skills on both the front and the back. This level marks the beginning of independent aquatic locomotion skills.

    134000 - Learn to Swim - Level 3

    Ages: 6 years and older
    This class is designed for children who have successfully completed Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills.
    Learn-to-Swim Level 3 builds on the skills learned in Levels 1 and 2. Participants learn to swim the front crawl and elementary backstroke at rudimentary proficiency levels, and are introduced to the scissors and dolphin kicks. On successful completion of Level 3, participants have achieved basic water competency in a pool environment.

    135000 - Learn to Swim - Level 4

    Ages: 6 years and older
    This class is designed for children who have successfully completed Level 3: Stroke Development. In Learn-to-Swim Level 4, participants improve their aquatic skills and increase their endurance by swimming the strokes learned in Level 3 for greater distances and with more advanced proficiency. Participants add arm actions to the previously learned scissors kick and breaststroke kick to perform the rudimentary sidestroke and to learn the breaststroke. Participants also begin to learn the back crawl and butterfly, as well as the basics of performing a simple open turn at a wall.

    136000 - Learn to Swim - Level 5

    Ages: 6 years and older
    This class is designed for children who have successfully completed Level 4: Stroke Improvement. In Level 5, participants refine their performance of all six strokes (i.e., front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke) and increase the distances that they swim. Participants also learn to perform flip turns on the front and back.

    142002 - Lifeguarding

    This course teaches participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be certified in Lifeguarding/First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Oxygen Administration and Preventing Disease Transmission.

    Prerequisites:
    * Continuous 300-yard swim. The test must be done in the following order: 100-yard front crawl, 100-yard breast stroke, 100-yards either front crawl or breaststroke.
    * Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using the front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7 - 10 feet, retrieve 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1minute, 40 seconds.

    142004 - FA/CPR/AED (r.11)

    The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program helps participants recognize and respond
    appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. The courses in this program teach skills that
    participants need to know to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced
    medical personnel arrive and take over.

    147008 - Home School Gym and Swim

    Home School Gym and Swim Program (147008)

    This program is designed to help participants fulfill home school fitness requirements, learn new skills and meet new people. The first two hours are devoted to activities led by staff with skills in that area. The last hour is an open swimming session that can be added on for $3 per person.

    Ages: 6-18 years old
    Fee: $10 per person
    Swimming: $3 per person

    September 9 – Sand Volleyball / Giant Slip-N-Slide
    October 7 – Disc Golf / Archery
    November 4 – Rock Climbing
    December 2 – Stand Up Paddle Boarding / Gym Games

    190001 - Flag Football League

    Teams will be scheduled for three regular season games, a post season tournament will be offered for qualifying teams. Team qualifications for post season tournament play can be viewed in the Intramural Sports Handbook.
    Flag Football League 190001

    Men's, Women's, Co-Rec and Greek divisions are offered. Teams will play one game per week on the night selected at the Student Recreation Fields. Each team will participate in a four team pool play with three regular season games. A single elimination tournament after pool play concludes for teams that qualify will determine the intramural championship team.

    Registration Deadline: Sept. 16
    Play begins: Sept. 21
    Fee: $85 per team - Men's, Women's & Co-Rec Leagues
    $100 per team - Greek Leagues
    Free Agent Fee: $10
