The Department
of Recreational Services offers membership
options for everyone. Memberships are
offered at a discounted rate for students
(non-assessed) and family of students,
Faculty/staff of Kent State and University
affiliates. See details on each of these
membership categories by visiting the links
on the right column of this page. If you are
uncertain of your membership status, please
call us at 330.672.4REC for assistance.
Membership Freeze
Memberships can be frozen for reasons such
as extended travel and medical injuries.
Written documentation is required. Pending
approval, membership length may be extended.
Freeze request forms are available in the
Pro Shop.
Membership Refund
or Cancellation
Memberships are non-refundable and
non-transferable. Based on special
circumstances, members who wish to cancel a
membership or request a refund may complete
the Membership Cancellation/Refund Request
Form in the Pro Shop. Memberships cancelled
before the contract agreement will be
charged penalty and processing fees.
The Student
Recreation and Wellness Center is 153,000
square feet of space dedicated to fitness,
wellness and recreation pursuits. You are
sure to find something of interest to you
here. Our facilities and services include:
Free weight and cardiovascular fitness areas
featuring more than 100 pieces of equipment
from the finest manufacturers such as Precor,
Cybex, Woodway, Sci-fit and Stairmaster.
Four basketball courts for open play,
intramurals sports and more. The hoop
closest to the indoor climbing wall can be
lowered to eight feet for youth.
Four racquetball courts available by
reservation during all open hours.
40-foot indoor climbing wall for climbing
and bouldering.
1/6 mile indoor running track featuring four
lanes.
Three group instruction studios for fitness,
dance and other instructional classes.
Multi-purpose gym used for indoor soccer,
floor hockey and also features high
challenge course elements (suspended from
ceiling) for use in the department’s TLC
programs.
Meeting rooms to accommodate up to 140
people.
Summit Street Café with tasty snacks and
refreshments after a hard workout.
Natatorium featuring a 25-yard lap pool, a
4-foot-deep leisure pool, a vortex for water
exercise, and a 16-person hot water spa. The
natatorium also features a “wet classroom”
for pool party rentals and instructional
programs.

including fitness classes, sports, adventure

The SRWC is now a recognized provider of the
Healthways Forever Fit program. This program
is for individuals who qualify for Medicare.
Qualifying medical insurance providers
include:
• Advantra (Coventry)
• Aetna Medicare Advantage
• Gateway
• Aetna OPERS
• Sterling Life Insurance
Individuals are eligible to sign-up for
membership one month at a time at ONE
participating facility. There is no
membership out-of-pocket cost. Individuals
must secure parking by paying $1 for four
hours or purchasing a monthly parking pass
for $10. The SRWC will handle all
necessary paperwork for membership

Non-prime
memberships are available to everyone and
allow members facility access from 6 a.m. -
3:30 Monday through Friday and all open
hours on weekends.

Access to the facility is permitted through any
of the above membership categories, or by
purchasing a punch pass for access. Punch passes
are valid for one year from date of purchase.
Discounted guest 10-punch passes are available
for members only. Please ask at the Pro Shop for
details.
