Our Learn-to-Swim program offers a group instructional setting for participants of all swimming levels. Ages range from infants to teens. All swim classes are taught by American Red Cross-certified instructors. Each level has a ratio of at least one instructor for every six participants. A maximum of 12 participants is allowed per class and a minimum of four participants is needed to hold a class. Three sessions will be offered this semester.

Diaper Dolphins (130000)

This class helps children develop a comfort level in and around the water and prepare the child to swim. Instructors will teach the parent/guardian how to assist the child in the water and reinforce the role of the adult in the child’s learning skills. This course does not teach children to be accomplished swimmers. An adult must accompany each child in the water.

Preschool (131000)
This class works on the development of the participant’s swimming skills through play and incidental learning to encourage fun and enjoyment in the water. This class provides opportunities for water adjustment and swimming readiness.

Level I: Introduction to Water Skills (132000)
Purpose: Help students feel comfortable in the water. Participants learn to: enter and exit water safely, submerge face, blow bubbles, open eyes underwater, change direction in water, float on front and back with support, swim on front and back.

Level II: Fundamental Aquatics Skills (133000)
Purpose: Learn the fundamental skills for swimming readiness. Participants learn to: enter water by stepping or jumping from the side, exit water safely using ladder or side, submerge entire head, blow bubbles in a rhythmic pattern (bobbing), float on front and back, perform front and back glide, roll over from front to back and back to front, tread water using arm and leg motions (chest-deep water), swim on front and back using combined arm and leg movements and move in the water while wearing a life jacket.

Level III: Stroke Development (134000)
Purpose: Begin coordinating the fundamental skills for swimming progression. Participants learn to: jump into deep water from the side, submerge and retrieve objects in chest deep water, bob with the head fully submerged, rotary breathing, perform front and back glide, float on front and back, change from horizontal to vertical position on front and back, tread water using hand and leg movements, perform front and back crawl, butterfly-kick and body motion, and perform the HELP and Huddle positions.

Level IV: Stroke Improvement (135000)
Purpose: Develop confidence in the skills learned in previous levels. Participants learn to: swim underwater, swim on side using the scissors kick, tread water using sculling arm motions and two types of kick, perform the front and back crawl, breaststroke, butterfly, elementary backstroke, feet-first surface dive, open turns, and compact jump into water while wearing a life jacket.

Level V: Stroke Refinement (136000)
Provide further coordination and refinement of swimming strokes. Participants learn to proficiently perform: flip turns, the front and back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, treading water and survival swimming skills.

Level VI: Fitness Swimming (136100)
A great transition from Learn-to-Swim to competitive swimming, this course is designed to refine participants strokes in order to increase ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances.

Level VI: Lifeguard Readiness (136200)
A great introduction to the Lifeguarding Course, this class will introduce and practice the skills required to successfully complete the pre-course session of Lifeguarding.

Adult Beginner (137001)
This class is designed for adults who do not have experience in the water. The goal is to overcome any fear of the water and to teach the basic swimming techniques. Participants will work on water adjustment, flutter kicking (on both stomach and back), breathing coordination and arm movement.

Adult Intermediate (137002)
This class is for individuals who are comfortable in the water, but may need guidance with the key swim strokes. Participants will learn to coordinate the front crawl, back crawl and elementary backstroke. The goal is to build endurance, learn proper stroke techniques and adjust to deep water.

Private and semi-private swimming lessons are offered for individuals at any skill level. Private lessons offer one-on-one instruction. Semi-private lessons are available for up to three people at similar skill levels. All lessons are 30-minutes in length. Semi-Private $25 per group of up to three people at similar skill levels ($115 for 5 Lessons)


Swimming is great exercise and making it a group activity adds more fun and interest.  This competitive program will allows participants to compete against other masters swim programs across the region.
