Does your group want to become more
effective team players? Need to improve
communication between co-workers? Want to
offer your staff a unique and fun retreat?
The Department of Recreational Services has
just the program for you! The Teambuilding
and Leadership Challenges program provides
adventure-challenge opportunities to help
your group reach its full potential. These
adventure-challenge opportunities are
presented in the form of new games, trust
exercises, initiatives and low/ high ropes
challenge course elements.

Games, Trust Exercises & Initiatives
Games: Non-competitive group games
that allow a group to begin interacting and
become more familiar with each other.
Trust Exercises: Trust exercises give
group members the opportunity to place their
personal safety in the hands of each other
by attempting a series of physical and
emotional challenges.
Initiatives: An initiative problem is a
physical (or sometimes mental) challenge
given by the facilitator to a group with no
solution given. They call on the group to
assess the problem given and develop a plan,
act on that plan, evaluate its
effectiveness, refine the plan if necessary
and then act on it again.

Low Challenge Course Elements
Low Challenge Course (LCC) elements are a
series of activities attached to trees or
poles by boards, cables and ropes. These
activities focus on building a more
effective team in a fun, hands-on way.
Spotting techniques are needed to safely
implement solutions to problems.

High Challenge Course Elements
The Indoor High Challenge Course (HCC)
elements are a series of belayed activities
fixed 25-feet high. The focus of these
activities can be on both the individual and
the group. The group is there to support
their team members as they attempt elements
such as: the Firecracker Ladder, the
Centipede, the Dangle Duo, the Giants
Ladder, the Trapeze Jump and the Flying
Squirrel.

*High
Challenge Course Programs are offered for a
minimum of 3 hours per group.
